Subject : It was a weird week in the NFL (and pretty stupid ending on Sunday night).
The Browns beat the Falcons Cheap Jay Ajayi Jersey , the Titans embarrassed the Patriots, and the Bills absolutely dominated the Jets in a win that was spearheaded by quarterback Matt Barkley and finally saw the explosive Shady McCoy doing what he does best. Here’s how a bunch of former Eagles did in Week 10 of the 2018 NFL season:Bills start Barkley, McCoy scores (x2)Former Eagles draft pick, quarterback Matt Barkley, was signed by the Buffalo Bills after the teams No. 1 and 2 QBs were sidelined with injury, and their best option was Nathan Peterman. Barkley actually got the start for the Bills on Sunday against the Jets, and led the team to their best performance in weeks, and a 41-10 win. The quarterback went 15-of-25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and solidly took the starting role from Peterman. His first pass of the night was a 48-yard long ball, and he had a nice touchdown late in the third quarter.Barkley wasn’t the only good thing about Buffalo’s offense on Sunday, LeSean McCoy had his biggest game of the year and found the endzone for his first — and then second — score of the season. Shady had 26 carries for 113 yards and two touchdowns against the Jets, including putting the first points on the board in the first drive of the game.Other offense updatesDespite the surprising success of Matt Barkley in Week 10, there were several other former Eagles players who had fairly mediocre performances this week.LeGarrette Blount had just four yards on six carries in the Lions loss to the Bears. Chicago tight end Trey Burton caught all four of his targets in the 34-22 win , but only netted 40 yards on the day.DeSean Jackson caught five of his eight targets, good for just 67 yards in the Bucs 3-16 loss to Washington. And, on defense, Beau Allen had three total tackles for the Bucs on Sunday, including one for loss, and similarly CB Daryl Worley had three total tackles for the Raiders. In the Titans win over the Patriots, former Eagles DT Bennie Logan made just one tackle.Roster movesThe Eagles released receiver and special teams player DeAndre Carter who was then claimed off waivers by the Texans. Kicker Caleb Sturgis had a really rough game last week in his return from a quad injury, and was released shortly afterward. And, while that’s bad news for the former Eagles kicker, it’s also bad news for Philadelphia in terms of compensatory picks.Injuries, Inactives and Bye WeeksWeek 10 marks the final week of linebacker Mychal Kendrick’s suspension, and is allowed to return to team activities on Nov. 12. The Patriots had two former Eagles inactive on Sunday in their loss to the Titans, recently signed Matt Tobin and running back Kenjon Barner. Torrey Smith was still inactive for the Panthers with a knee injury Youth Destiny Vaeao Jersey , and Vinny Curry was out again for the Bucs with a lingering ankle injury.
And, your weekly reminder that WR Marcus Johnson (Colts), CB Patrick Robinson (Saints), and Jalyn Watkins (Chargers) are on IR for their respective teams.Report: No contract talks going on between the Eagles and Brandon Graham With all the focus the past few weeks on who the Eagles might bring in to fill some of the roster gaps due to injuries, there’s been a lot of attention on who is available now. But, elsewhere, people are already looking at what the free agency market is going to be like in 2019. ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, along with NFL Nation, released their Top 25 2019 NFL free agents, including their predictions for who gets re-signed or ends up elsewhere. So, who’s the top free agent from Philadelphia? Defensive end Brandon Graham, of course. We all knew this conversation was coming. Graham is playing on the final year of his 4-year, $26 million contract Mike Wallace Jersey , and has been looking for a new deal since the offseason. It’s interesting that ESPN’s list includes a note that Graham and the Eagles haven’t continued their contract talks since this summer — it’s not exactly like the team is having a stellar start to the season, and you’d imagine (read: hope) that they’re focusing on the now, and not on free agency.Either way, Graham is currently the fifth highest paid player for the organization, and with an $8 million cap hit, sits at No. 21 among defensive ends throughout the league. Which means the Eagles are paying him a lot, but not compared to what others are earning — Calais Campbell of the Jaguars is No. 1 at $17.5 million, and all three of the top paid DEs earn over $17 million.Graham isn’t a young buck anymore though, and while the top few earn close to $20 million, the guys just outside the Top 10 in their position — and closer to 30 years old — earn about $9-10 million, which is probably where Graham would land.Back in June, the defensive end said, “We’ll get [the contract] done however it go. I’m 30 years old and I understand this is a business Authentic Sidney Jones Jersey , too. But I got to keep showing them that I’m just going to keep taking it up and go out on my terms.”After spending part of the offseason rehabbing, Graham was back in time for Week 1, and so far this season has nabbed 16 total tackles and claimed his first sack in Week 5 against the Vikings. It hasn’t exactly been the type of production we were used to from the DE last season, but he’s still taking a considerable number of snaps each week in the rotation. The good news for the Eagles, is that there are a lot of talented defenders heading into free agency next spring— like Ezekiel Ansah, Frank Clark, and Trey Flowers —, and hopefully a loaded pool of DEs means a lesser market for Graham. Don’t get me wrong, I want Graham to make his money, just preferably Eagles money and not so much that it leaves the team in a tight cap situation. (Is that too much to ask?)
