Audi has launched a new base trim for the petrol avatar of the A3 – christened as the A3 40 TFSI Premium; the car is priced at Rs. 25.5 lakhs. This is the new and the only version available in the petrol avatar, the Premium Plus has been discontinued, which was priced at Rs. 30 lakhs.

Of course, with the price cut – the car also cuts on many features like instead of 17-inch the car gets 16-inch alloy wheels, conventional halogen headlamps instead of Xenons. The parking sensors come with only audio warning instead of display. The Audi A3 is powered by a 177bhp 1.8-litre TFSI unit that is mated to a seven speed S-Tronic Dual clutch gearbox. Audi seems to have the upper hand at least for now, because the competitor Mercedes Benz CLA is a compete import and there is a difference of over Rs. 10 lakhs between them.
