Sahara Force India unveiled their 2012 Formula 1 challenger at the Silverstone circuit today. The new challenger called the VJM05 was presented by the team racing drivers Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenburg. It is the team’s earliest car launch after coming to existence in 2008, as the outfit aims to challenge the top five teams in the constructors’ championship.

Powered by the Mercedes engine, the team has opted for a step-nose design similar to the 2012 Caterham and Ferrari. As per the new FIA rules, the car’s nose must not be higher than 55cm while the front bulkhead can remain at 62.5cm leaving an opportunity for a step between the two. The McLarens have lowered the overall height of the F1 car and avoid the controversial front wing, now called the platypus.

Force India has had a successful season last year, as they achieved their best position, sixth, in the overall standings. Team will now take part at the first preseason test at Jerez circuit, in Spain starting next Tuesday.
