Ford Classic compact sedan is now Rs. 1 lakh cheaper

Ford has slashed the prices of Classic sedan by up to Rs. 1 lakh. The idea of this little marketing strategy is that the car could probably sell in better numbers. The Fiesta Classic has been a very popular car since its launch back in 2006. The carmaker will unveil the new Figo hatch this year and there are probabilities that the Classic sedan is taken off production by the end of this year.

Ford recently hiked the prices of EcoSport by Rs. 75,000 and has decreased the prices of Fiesta Classic considerably. We are guessing that this could be in a reason to sell the last stock of the car remaining in the warehouse and with the dealers. The All new Fiesta was first out in India in end of 2011 and it has been seeing considerably progress since then. Also, the competition from Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire is keeping Ford away from this segment.

There are chances that Ford also might re-launch the Classic sedan by this year-end but that is subjective to the demand of customers. The Ford Classic range now starts at Rs. 4.99 lakhs and it goes up to Rs. 7.6 lakhs, Ex-Delhi. The price reduction is over Rs. 70,000, even more on certain variants. The car comes with 1.6-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel motor options. We reckon that Ford will now reposition the All New Fiesta as it will face tough competition from the newly launched Honda City facelift.
