Tata Nano, world’s cheapest car is set to roll into the cab market of Jammu & Kashmir as a substitute of auto-rickshaws. Surprisingly, Government of J&K received numerous applications entreating to make Tata Nano as their commercial taxi. Hearing the needs of state-men, Jammu & Kashmir government has called for tenders from various interested companies.

However, the small hatch will get certain modifications for the added safety and comfort of passengers. Jammu & Kashmir Transport Minister, Mehrak Khusroo said "The government has received many proposals from private fleet owners regarding the use of Tata Nano as a taxi in the mountainous state."

"The fare for the transport will be in-line with that of present auto fares. The vehicle will be further added with convenience features like air conditioner and heater. Besides, GPS system and electronic meter will also find their way inside the Nano for added protection of the passengers."

Tata Nano will now perform as per its quote of ‘people’s car’ in true sense. The shades sanctioned for taxi purpose are White, Black and Red.
