Once Maruti Alto got the crown of number one selling vehicle in small cars segment and now the perfect replacement of Alto, the new Alto 800 is all set to repeat the history. It has been nearly a month only since Alto 800 was launched, and this car has created record sales for Maruti. Only on a single day of Dhanteras, the small car managed to get whopping 2,000 units’ sales across India.

As per Maruti officials, currently Maruti has competence to develop 25,000 to 30,000 Alto 800s each month that means Alto 800 will not face any waiting period for the time being, but some sense of insecurity is still there as biggest rivals Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano are also available with no waiting periods. However the older Alto used to sell about 30,000 units a month and for Alto 800 to achieve these figures will take some time.

Technically, Alto 800 is adorned with a 796cc, 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which can churn out a peak power of 47 PS and peak torque of 69 Nm. Additionally a 5-speed manual gearbox is mated to the engine. As the older Alto F8D engine is completely reworked in Alto 800, the car carries faster accelerating power with better driveability. Moreover, Alto 800 comes with improved fuel economy than its predecessor and offers 22.7 Kmpl. The Alto 800 is also available in CNG option too.
