Honda Motorcycles replaces TVS to become third largest two-wheeler maker spot

Honda has been aggressively expanding in the two-wheeler space ever since it exited the successful joint venture with Hero Group. The company has become the third largest two-wheeler maker in the Indian market by displacing the Chennai-based TVS Motor Company.

SIAM stated that the total Indian two-wheeler market grew by 14.16 per cent in 2011-12 from. During the last fiscal, HMSI gained in both scooter and motorcycle segment by registering growth of 37.08 per cent and 17.28 per cent respectively. While TVS Motor’s sales in scooter segment grew by 14.13 per cent, it witnessed a fall of 1.65 per cent in the motorcycle segment. TVS Motor’s moped sales increased by 11.39 per cent.
